Mustapha Sule Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, has formally entered the race for the Jigawa State governorship after picking the Peoples Democratic Party nomination form.

The former PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 general election submitted the form to the Jigawa State PDP Working Committee and other party stakeholders on Tuesday for their endorsement.

Speaking shortly after collecting the form and meeting with stakeholders, Lamido said he had completed all consultations and was now seeking the party’s approval to fly its flag in the 2027 election. He expressed confidence that the PDP remains the only platform capable of solving Jigawa’s pressing problems if given another opportunity to govern.

According to Lamido, no other political party has matched the PDP’s record of delivering projects and programmes that directly improve people’s lives. He argued that parties which came to power after the PDP had failed to meet expectations across the board.

The governorship hopeful appealed to PDP members in Jigawa to rally behind him ahead of the 2027 polls. He assured stakeholders that he would continue to promote the party’s core values of patriotism and service to humanity throughout his campaign.
