Tinubu Committed to Fixing Nigeria's Problems, Says Shettima
The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has urged citizens to remain calm despite prevailing challenges, assuring that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration is committed to fixing the nation's problems.
## Economic Reforms and Progress
Shettima stated that when the administration took over in 2023, Nigeria was on the verge of a fiscal trap, with debt service consuming about 96% of revenue. However, through various economic reforms, the country has recorded successes in all sectors of the economy, enabling state governors to embark on infrastructural projects without borrowing funds.
## Appeal for Support
The Vice President appealed to citizens, regardless of their religious, tribal, or political backgrounds, to support the administration's efforts to succeed. He emphasized that the administration is laying the foundation for an economy that rewards production, protects enterprise, and gives states the room to become engines of growth.
## Nasarawa Investment Summit 2026
Shettima commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for prioritizing investments in Nasarawa State, which has become an investment destination due to the numerous investments attracted over the past seven years. The VP attended the Nasarawa Investment Summit 2026, themed 'Bold Transitions, Building a Legacy for a Sustainable Future,' where he assured investors that their commitments would remain safe regardless of who succeeds Governor Sule.
## Lafia Declaration
A highlight of the summit was the launch of the 'Lafia Declaration,' a voluntary commitment by political parties, the legislature, judiciary, development partners, and investors to sustain Nasarawa's economic reform trajectory beyond 2027.
